Student Life in Huddersfield

Huddersfield Overview

Huddersfield is known for being a market town and this is due to the fortune that was built on textiles from mills which are now not being used due to the move in technology. The town is situated just between Manchester and Leeds making it a very common place for commuters to live. Surrounding the town is a bowl of hills and Greenland and no matter where you are in the town you will be able to see the Pennines, these are a range of hills and mountains that separate the North east of England and the North West. There are two main markets in Huddersfield, the open market on Brook street is closed on Wednesday and Friday but open every other day of the week from 9-3 with a huge selection of goods from fabrics to fashion, household goods and hardware plus a lot more. On Tuesday and Saturday, it becomes a second-hand market which is great for them students that like to grab a bargain. Queensgate market is an indoor market that runs from Monday to Saturday and is another market where you can find anything you want for a great price.
